PhD Projects How do companies incorporate social and environmental considerations in their decision-making? Corporate sustainability is an enacted process: the decision to act sustainably needs to be embedded throughout the organisation with companies needing to learn to incorporate factors other than economic performance into their ways of decision-making.
The whole must be related to the overall purposes of the School of Environment, Resources and Sustainability (SERS) doctoral program, and the individual components of the dissertation must originate from the doctoral research. The manuscripts must be dominated by the intellectual effort of the student.
In this dissertation I offer explanations for how sustainability reporting has developed from a peripheral practice into a more widely accepted and adopted one. I qualitatively analyse the history of sustainability reporting over the last 25 years by focusing on the Dutch sustainability reporting field.
